Ferrari Pit Crew

This painting depicts a couple of mechanics prepping driver: Gerhard Berger's formula one car during the 1980's. I painted this with acrylic on 24"x36"tempered masonite with a gessoed veneer.

Le Man's racer

I painted this while at Art Center in Richard Pietruska's In visual Communication 6 class as a lesson in photo realism. I took this photograph in the pits at Laguna Seca before I painted with acrylic on 24"x36" illustration board.

Porsche LeMans

This painting is an assemblage of formula one's "colors of Benetton". The car was that of Thierry Boutsen's B188 F1 car. I painted this with acrylic on canvas 14"x17".

A surreal paining on Arches board, this was my first paining using an airbrush with acrylic paint. This was created about the time I began studying at Art Center.

The Beginning

A pencil sketch from my early days at Venice High School. I've always been fascinated with surrealism and Picasso and Dali are a couple of painters that I related to. I think back and wanted to be a painter but I knew I couldn't survive doing that, so I went with music for some years and then discovered Industrial Design as I was always in love with automobiles from my earliest years. Try and find some hidden iconography in the piece (there's even a self portrait of me at that time).
