L.A.M.B. Fashion Brand
As a senior designer at Royal Elastics, we won the license over mega brands Nike & adidas to create and develop sneakers for LAMB because Gavin Rossdale (Gwens husband) was a fan of Royal,it didn't hurt that we were also locally based in LA. I first met Gwen Stefani at her home in Los Feliz along with her stylist, where we began discussing and sketching what the LAMB footwear brand should look like. I worked on three collections until the fashion line was licensed to another company.
LAMB Fashion Show
This was a fun show with all of the models wearing blonde wigs and Cazal eyewear! A young and gorgeous Miranda Kerr walked this show and I couldn't help thinking "This girl is going to be big"! This show had a lot of natural/nude tones to the pallette with bright color pops. We did some really forward designs for this show...I wish I'd kept images of everything but due to confidentiality agreements, sadly I left most of the work behind.
Corset Bootie, Natural Raw Canvas
This bootie, was created by channeling one of Gwen favorite designers: Vivian Westwood in the use of canvas combined with vegetable leathers. The pattern was a challenge to create and took quite a bit of fit testing in China to work out at the factory.
LAMB Fashion Show
In this image you can see the finished corset booties in both colors as well as the bandana sandal. I designed all of the shoes for this fashion show presented in NYC to a very favorable reception.
LAMB Vulcanized Sneaker Side Hi Top
We coordinated a range of bags, wallets and in this image a sneaker al made from a Gucci inspired repeat pattern printed over polyurethane on canvas like the gucci. The sneaker also has veg. leather trimmings and a round fine mold with the LAMB logo. The outsole is a vulcanized construction.
LAMB Sneaker Low-Top
LAMB Slip-On Sandal
We created a one-strap sneaker sandal with what would become the "corporate pattern" combined with a new gold plated new LAMB logo and black and white leather trimmings.
LAMB Vulcanized City Names
We also printed notable major cities around the world onto canvas, also with leather trimmings and vulcanized construction.
LAMB Vulcanized Outsole Drawing
This a typical outsole drawing done in Adobe Illustrator. Its far quicker working in this format vs. Autocad or in the old days we would hand draw this type of layout, (it was naturally frustrating making changes back then).
LAMB Wedge Mule Low
LAMB Wedge Wallaby Mule
LAMB wallaby boot combo
This is the first "fashion item" that LAMB would build that opened the door for a complete fashion range. At that time I knew nothing about high fashion footwear. I would need a crash course in "fashion" which I undertook to understand the fashion footwear category. Luckily drawing shoes is a lot like drawing 1/10th scale cars, I caught on quickly to the shapes and proportions.
