Mercury Sable ConceptThis photo is of my 5th scale Art Center model created in the 7th term. The Ford sponsored program was to redefine the direction of the next Taurus vehicle. I proposed a Mercury Sable alternative in order to stand out among twenty two other students. This clay model required over 400 hours to sculpt. | Mercury Sable ConceptThis view shows the form vocabulary trend of the time; a low, pointed cowl and a high deck with a "stinger" boat tail. The original model had a longer exaggerated rear overhang to add drama to the proportion. | Mercury Sable ConceptThis rear three-quarter view shows a unique graphic break up of the green house with a visual continuation of glass draping over the rear deck. This effect is possible by creating an offset in the deck where glass looking plastic overlays complete the desired effect. The upper has built in water management valleys above the door shut lines. Note the beautiful rocker detail. |
